Croatia has been affected by the same
cold snap that has hit all of Europe in the past week. However, we've really had almost no snow; our post from February 1st accurately depicts the big snowfall (NOT!) we had here. Evidently though, these relatively low temperatures and the existence of any snow at all are highly unusual here. For our family, toughened by the winters back at home, the cold isn't so bad, but the Bora winds are. Sometimes we really feel as though we're being blown away.
On Sunday, the winds had died down a bit, so the four of us went wandering in downtown Rijeka. Here are a few photos of our wanderings:

The Jadrolinija Building. Jadrolinija means "Adriatic line"; it's the name of the ferry here.
We see the Jadrolinija ferry boat outside most days from our apartment windows. |
